REGISTERED MASSAGE THERAPY Registered Massage Therapy is a regulated profession in BC and as such, massage therapy should only be performed by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT). All RMT’s are required to register with the CMTBC and carry mal-practice insurance. Most insurance plans cover treatment by an RMT. Call your provider to verify your own coverage. Sonya Trevisi went through a 3000 hour education program at West Coast College of Massage Therapy in New West Minster graduating in 2008. In BC a Registered Massage Therapist has gone through at least 2200 hours of training. They are also required to continue their education post grad with approx. 30 hours of education required every two years. Sonya, exceeds these requirements every year. RMT's are also required to have Standard First Aid and CPR. Registered Massage Therapists have the ability to asses a variety of conditions and pathologies and provide many different forms of treatment, including, but not limited to : Swedish Massage, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Release, Cranial Sacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation and Remedial Therapeutic Exercises and Stretching.
